Research

Professor Kaczmarczyk's work dealt with two distinct areas involving the study of art and archeological objects.  He investigated and developed new and more sensitive techniques for identifying trace amounts of "perishable" chemicals, such as organic dyes, in ancient materials.  He also studied ways to establish reliable chemical criteria from correlating the physical appearance, especially color, of ancient Classical & Near Eastern ceramics with their chemical composition.
