Approved Courses in Related Fields

The following list of courses embodies the “approved courses in related field” referred to in the catalog statement of the requirements for a concentration in chemistry. Any proposal to accept a course not on this list in satisfaction of the related-field requirement must be submitted to the Department for approval. Any course cross listed with an approved course is automatically approved.

• ASTRONOMY – 21, 22 and higher

• BIOLOGY – 41 or any higher number except 42, 43, 45, 130, 132, 195, 196, any course numbered 91-99

• CHEMICAL ENGINEERING – Any Course except courses counted as Chemistry (CHE140, CHE121, CHE122 (only 2 of the 3 can be counted).

• CHEMISTRY - Full credit chemistry courses with numbers higher than 16 (except 91 and 94) may be used to fulfill the related fields courses

• CIVIL ENGINEERING – 133, 134, 138, 143

• ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING – 100 or any higher number

• ENGINEERING SERVICES – 101

• GEOLOGY – 11 or any higher number

• MATHEMATICS – 13, 18, 38, 46, or any number 100 or higher

• MECHANICAL ENGINEERING – 150, 165

• PHILOSOPHY – 116 or 168 (one only)

• PHYSICS – 13, 18, or any higher number

• PSYCHOLOGY – 123
